Video on Creative Zen- what specs work?

Postby zandar » Mon Mar 17, 2008 11:11 pm

Hey, if anyone reading this is watching video on their Zen and use XNJB to manage it, can you tell me what format(s) work and what format specs you use? Do you use MPEG Streamclip? If so, what settings worked for you?

I've tried some AVIs that work ok on my Macbook with 10.4.11 (actually, not until I installed DivX) but have unsupported audio according to the Zen.

TIA..

ffmpeg may work

If you can figure out how to install ffmpeg, that might work.

I'm hoping someone with programming experience figures out a way to builld it into XJNB software.

I got .Avi videos working on my Creative Zen using MPEG Streamclip and xnjb, using the following specs:

Compression: DivX codec
Quality: 100
Limit data rate: 700 kbps
Audio: mp3 layer3, stereo, auto, 256 kbps
24 fps
reslution: 320 x 240
Interlaced scaling

And I also downloaded the the following codec packages:
DivX, Flip4Mac WMV, and perian(for youtube videos)

Hope this helps

Do I need all the codec packages installed to get the "Compression: DivX codec".

Under the File>Export>Export to avi I don't see the DivX codec in the compression pull-down window.

The Creative Zen V has a different screen resolution, you have to use the 128 x 128 for the screen resolution. try this and it might work. good luck.

Are you using a Creative Zen V Plus?
My understanding from reading other posts, the only way to put video onto the Zen V Plus is to use ffmpeg and the terminal.

This topic is about the creative "ZEN" but like i said, if you want to put video on you Creative "ZEN V PLUS" you need to download and install
-Divx codec
-MPEG Streamcilp
-XNJB

isntall the codec, then run MPEG Streamclip, import the video file you want to convert for your "ZEN V PLUS" on MPEG Streamclip. Press file, Export to AVI, use the settings I mentioned. Remember to CHANGE the resolution to 128 x 128 then press ok to convert the video. then using XNJB connect you mp3 player, go to the data tab, on the botton half select the video that you just converted, now on the top half select the folder in which you want the video to be placed, upload the video to your player using the up arrow, disconnect your player and see if the video that you just uploaded works. :)

Again I hope that this helps.

ps: sorry for sounding soo technical.
