Margaret Low said that Elisabeth was born in Letham
Margaret also said she thought Elisabeth could be the sister of Jessie Williamson (on Ma's side)
Mother age 78-79? Born in Letham according to paper written by Pop
Death Certificate says 11 South Esk Street, Brechin Died 26 Nov 1922.
I have a copy certificate from Edinburgh - it says she was the widow of William Smeaton - butcher!
There is a reference to Smeatons in Pop's diary of 1907.
This could be a simple mistake on the copy certificate that I have!
The place of birth of her son in 1862 was Norriesland, Miller's Wynd, Dundee. Stated profession then was Domestic Servant. Probably the child was born in the room of her sister, Jane Duncan (from 1861 census). This area had very dense housing of linen & jute factory workers.
I cannot find her in the 1861 census (although I have not yet seen many of the returns).
