Narrative

Baptismal record of Alexander Pitkeathly – “Tarsappie (near Perth) the 7th August 1793 was born Alexander Pitkeathly lawful son to James Pitkeathly, Fisher in Tarsappie and Jean Brown, spouse, and baptised 28th August said year by Mr Robert Forsyth, Minister of the Associate Congregation at Craigend.”

1841 – Methven – East Half (?)

Alexr Pitkeathly, aged 40, agricultural labourer; May Pitkeathly, aged 35; Cathrine Pitkeathly, aged 14; John Pitkeathly, aged 11; Alexr Pitkeathly, aged 5 & Agness Drummond1, aged 1. All were born in Perthshire.

1851 – Methven – Nether Sauchop

Alexander Pitkaithly, aged 57, agricultural labourer, born in Perth; Margrie2 Pitkaithly, his wife, aged 48, born in Auchtermuchty, Perthshire (sic, not Fife); Alexander Pitkaithly, son, aged 15 and a scholar born in Methven.

Cathrine Pitkeathly, house servant, aged 22, born in Methven. Her employers are Ann Miller (34) and John Miller (32).

1861 – not found (despite trying all the various spelling permutations).

1871 – Auchterarder

Alexander Pitceathly, aged 77, farmer of 25 acres, born East Church, Perth; his wife May, aged 65, born in Auchtermuchty, Fifeshire; their son, James, aged 45, unmarried, working as farmer’s son, born in Tibbermuir; Catherine Jackson, granddaughter, 14, domestic servant and born in Tibbermuir.

1881 – Auchterarder – Abby Wind

May D Pitkeathly, head of household and widowed aged 79.

Death Certificate of Alexander Pitkeathly describes him as a farmer who died on 6/5/1876 at Bankhead, Auchterarder aged 85 years of old age. The informant was his son, James Pitkeathly. His parents were James Pitkeathly, Fisher, and Jean Pitkeathly M.S. Brown, both deceased.
